Practical engineering from an owner’s perspective
Elsa Associates is a civil engineering and land development consulting firm led by Michael Bruce, PE. Clients work directly with Michael from initial site evaluation through design, permitting, and construction.
Michael’s experience in private consulting, the public sector, and firsthand property development and ownership shapes the firm’s approach. That experience gives him a practical understanding of both the engineering and the owner’s side of a project
Experience Built Over Time
Land development has been part of Michael’s life for as long as he can remember. Growing up in a family involved in real estate and development, he was exposed early to the practical side of getting projects designed, approved, and built.
Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His career has included work with local and national engineering firms as well as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, providing experience with projects from both the private and public sides of the review process. He is a licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania and several other states.
The Right Team for the Project
Elsa Associates works collaboratively with a network of experienced professionals to bring the right expertise to each project. Depending on the project, that may include local land surveyors, wetland scientists, architects, landscape architects, attorneys, geotechnical engineers, contractors, and other specialized consultants.
Elsa also works closely with municipal staff, reviewing engineers, authorities, and other agencies throughout the approval process. These relationships and a collaborative approach help identify issues early, coordinate the necessary disciplines, and keep projects moving.
